How To Prepare Chai
How to Prepare Traditional Chai • Shanti Chai & Co's "Original Chai Blend"
Recipe makes 1 cup of Chai
You will need: a teaspoon, small pot, strainer; 1/2 cup water, 1 teaspoon of Original Chai Blend spices and 1 teaspoon of Original Chai Blend Assam tea, 2 teaspoons of sugar (or other sweetener) and 1/2 cup milk (or milk substitute).
Step 1: Add water and spices to pot and bring to boil on the stove.
Step 2: Add sugar and milk, bring to gentle second boil while stirring occasionally.
Step 3: Turn heat to low and add tea. Steep 3-4 minutes.
Strain • Serve • Enjoy!
Tips: Once you are comfortable brewing traditional chai, you can experiment. Want a little extra spiciness? Add a piece of fresh ginger or a couple extra peppercorns. Like a really strong chai? Allow to steep an extra minute or two.
Iced Chai: To prepare iced chai, brew according to above instructions and then store in the fridge for up to two days. Chilled prepared chai can be poured over ice for a delicious iced chai, or even blended into smoothies and chilled desserts!
Substitutes: For sugar substitutes, try maple syrup, agave or honey. For milk substitutes, we recommend unsweetened oat milk, cashew milk or coconut milk. (We love Earth's Own Oat Milk and Silk's Cashew and Coconut Milks).
Mission: We hope you experiment with sweetener, milk, and even steep time until you find the cup of chai that is YOUR PERFECT CUP of chai. That is our mission. Your perfect cup of chai, every time.
